June 10, 2008 -- Kindergarten registration is taking place now at your neighborhood schools! If your child will be age 5 by September 30, 2008, then it is imperative to register as soon as possible. Registrants will need:

a. Birth Certificate – original or certified copy,
b. Custody (if applicable) – Journal Entry from the court or Children Services Agency stating that custody proceedings have begun,
c. Shot Records – Two MMRs (high school and junior high require two shots, elementary requires one).
d. Current IEP or MFE (if applicable)
e. Two proofs of residency – Examples include utility bill, cell phone bill, bank statements, lease or sale of property/intent to buy contract.

Elyria's all-day kindergarten program is hugely successful. In fact, research from the Elyria Schools shows that students enrolled in the all-day kindergarten program academically outperform their age mates in half-day programs well beyond their kindergarten years.

The Kindergarten Village has been expanded to numerous locations and now serves students closer to home at sites across the city. All-day kindergarten now is offered at The Village at Prospect, The Village at Franklin, The Village at Spring Valley Early Childhood Center, and at the original Kindergarten Village site on Griswold Road.

Again, early registration for kindergarten is important to not only secure a seat in the program, but also to allow time with your child to prepare for this important step in their educational career.
