August 4, 2009 -- A change to the Elyria Schools Code of Pupil Conduct will mean students can no longer wear hoodies, hooded sweatshirts or oversized pants and shirts in school. They must also keep cell phones turned off during the school day.
The new regulations will be implemented districtwide and are effective with the 2009-2010 school year. The changes address safety concerns.
Conduct Code changes include the following:
Cell Phone Usage
Cell phones must be turned off during the school day. Offenders will see cell phones confiscated and returned at the end of the school day or returned to parents or guardians depending on the nature of the offense.
Dress Code
No hoodies (hooded sweatshirts)
No short shorts
All clothes must be size appropriate: no oversized shirts or pants; pants must be worn waist high with belts or suspenders.
If you have questions, please contact Dr. Gordon Dupree, Pupil Services Director, 284-8216.
