January 15, 2010 -- As coach of the reigning state champion softball team, Elyria High's Ken Fenik is no stranger to winning. Fenik is always quick to credit his players for the hundreds of victories they achieve. But a recent commendation from the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) puts Fenik in the limelight.
The NFHS has awarded Fenik with the 2009 Mideast Sectional Coach of the Year award for the sport of softball. The Mideast section includes the states of Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
With this honor, Fenik becomes eligible for the National Coach of the Year award through the same organization.
This recognition takes into account coaches'records, tournaments, affiliation and professional development.
Congratulations, Coach Fenik, you make Elyria Schools proud!
