Invacare Corporation (NYSE: IVC) is proud to announce its $350,000 multi-year pledge towards the construction of the Elyria High School Performing Arts Center at the new Elyria High School. The Elyria High School Performing Arts Center will be available to both Elyria High School students and members of the community for performances, meetings and special events. It will seat over 800 spectators.

“Invacare’s very generous contribution to Elyria’s new Performing Arts Center is allowing the Elyria Board of Education to make significant upgrades to this project that would not otherwise be possible, notably the inclusion of higher quality seating, lighting and sound systems,” said Holly Brinda, Elyria Board of Education member. “The upgrades in the Performing Arts Center will enhance the entertainment experience for both the performers and the audience.”

“The city of Elyria has been home to Invacare since 1885 when it was known as the Worthington Company. The city has grown along side us, and we are proud to make this investment in both the community and the future of the Elyria School System,” said Gerry Blouch, President and Chief Operating Officer of Invacare Corporation.

At more than 300,000 square feet and $70 million, the Elyria High School project is one of the largest building projects in Ohio co-funded by the Ohio School Facilities Commission. Elyria High School will be completed in two phases. Phase one opens in September 2010 and includes the academic building and auditorium. Phase two encompasses the athletic complex, dining facilities and renovated Washington Building and will open in 2011.

"We are so very appreciative of Invacare's investment in this project and their ongoing collaboration with The Elyria Schools. By continuing to work together, we are improving the quality of life for everyone in the Elyria community by providing accessible, high quality educational and cultural opportunities to all," continued Brinda.
