New students to the Elyria City School District will enroll at the Elyria Board of Education, 42101 Griswold Road, or at Elyria High School, 601 Middle Ave., beginning Monday, July 2, 2012. The district has defined these two locations as central registration points, and enrollment will no longer take place in neighborhood schools.

Central registration helps streamline data entry and record keeping, and improves data accuracy, which is critical to the day-to-day operations of school business, such as student record keeping, bussing and foodservice.

When registering their student, parents must bring essential documentation, including their child’s birth certificate and immunization records, two proofs of residency (i.e.: utility bills, lease agreement, financial statement, etc.), and proof of custody (if applicable), A Social Security card also is accepted as valid identification but is not required.

Parents are encouraged to make an appointment as delays are possible during peak times of registration. To make an appointment at either location, parents may contact Central Registration at (440) 284-8220. The Elyria High School registrar’s office is open from 7:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., and early appointments are advised during the school year. Guests may park in the Visitors Parking Lot at the Main Office entry off Middle Avenue (near Washington Building).

The registrar’s office at the Elyria Board of Education is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and guests may park in the Visitors’ Parking Lot, and check in at the switchboard.

*Summer hours on Fridays through August 17th are 7:30-10:30 a.m. at EHS and 8 to 11 a.m. at the Administration Building.
