Dear Students, Parents, Colleagues and Friends,
Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year! I am pleased and honored to serve as the president of the Elyria City School District Board of Education.
This is truly an exciting time for Elyria Schools. The district and Board of Education, in collaboration with students, parents, staff, community leaders and school supporters, won a major victory for Elyria’s children and the entire community of Elyria last year with the passage of a bond issue to rebuild Elyria High School. Thanks to you, Elyria’s children are being given the gift of a better future. On behalf of the Elyria Board of Education and everyone at the Elyria City Schools, thank you for your support of our children and community.
The high-school project, as you can imagine, has been and will continue to be an integral part of the Board of Education meetings. Board of Education meetings are held the first and third Wednesday of every month. I encourage all citizens of Elyria to be part of the education experience and attend a Board Meeting. If you are unable to attend, the proceedings air most days, at 2 and 7 p.m., on Time Warner Channel 98, the district’s education station.
Board meetings offer a wonderful opportunity to learn about what's happening in the Elyria Schools. One topic of major importance this school year is the renewal of three crucial levies. The Elyria Schools will be on the ballot with the first renewal in November, 2008. As a Board and an administration, we will work hard to effectively communicate information on these important issues in the coming months and answer any questions you may have. I encourage you to join us for a meeting at the Board office, located at 42101 Griswold Road, in Elyria.
The Elyria Schools Administration and Board of Education are working together for common goals--academic excellence, fiscal responsibility, modern, safe facilities and strong community ties. With The Elyria Schools, you will find top-notch academic programming, a caring, competent teaching and support staff, an experienced, committed administration and a dedicated board that is ready to serve our students, parents and community.
As always, thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
Don Boddy
Board President
