Hello!
My name is Dean Stamatis and I'm glad to be your child's music education teacher. My philosophy is that all children are musical in some way. Some love to sing. Some love to dance. Some love to learn a new instrument. Some love to do it all.
My love and dream is to find this in each child. In doing so, there is a layout to the school year. I try to base all learning and music making on the performance calender. For my schools, the odd numbered grades (1,3,5) perform for the winter. The even numbered Grade (2,4,6) perform for the spring.
For my odd numbered classes, from September to December we work on preparing for our program. We will work on songs, memory, concert preparation, voice preparation, etc.
From January to May with grades 1,3,5, we will work on music literacy skills, integration with grade level subjects, music history, multicultural music, etc.
The exact same process applies to the even numbered grades (concert preparation in the spring and skill building in the winter).
Through this process, I can get a sense of each child's strengths, interests, and challanges. Each year, I grow with the children. It is through them that fuels my love of teaching!
