Dear Parents/Guardians,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome your son/daughter to my
Creative Foods II class and to briefly explain some of the learning experiences
and requirements of the course.

We will be covering the following topics: Kitchen Basics (food safety and sanitation, accident prevention, kitchen equipment); Food Preparation (basic cooking skills, meal planning, time management ); Nutrition, Health, and Wellness (nutrition guidelines, maintaining a healthy weight, eating disorders, nutrition & lifestyle related to health).

There will also be a service learning project required of all Family and Consumer Science students which will be discussed in September. In short, this class includes lessons that will help prepare young adults to make informed decisions about nutrition and wellness.
