EHS Choir Performs at BW

EHS Choir WOWS at BW's BachSings
Posted on 11/10/2025

Congratulations to the eight talented choir members from Elyria High School who had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music honors choir event known as BachSings, held Oct. 29.

These students showcased their talent with a concert at Gamble Auditorium, at Baldwin Wallace University. They began preparing for this event last September; they attended four rehearsals where they learned college-level repertoire at an advanced pace. At their final rehearsal, the students spent the day at Baldwin Wallace learning about different music programs and exploring the campus alongside other top high school singers from the area.

In a truly heartwarming display of friendship and love of music, our students joined in with two other participating schools after discovering they were performing our students’ favorite pieces from the EHS Fall Concert. Berea Midpark recently showcased William L. Dawson's "Soon Ah Will Be Done," while North Royalton performed Jennifer Lucy Cook's "Time."

How incredible that in their downtime, our students enjoyed making music with new friends, simply for the joy of it, even after a full day of intense rehearsals!

Kalee Bondzio, Choir Director, said, “We are so proud of the hard work and commitment each student put into this opportunity and are beaming from how well they represented our program and school district.”

This event – BachSings -- also opens doors for students to be selected to participate in the annual Bach Festival held at BW in the spring.

Congratulations to the following Elyria High School Students, and to Choir Directors and Vocal Teachers, Kalee Bondzio and Erin Behrendt:

• Chris Ashby
• Cedar Dove
• Nate Leaks
• Ace Massa
• Hayley Schmitz
