COVID-19 created a two-year gap in activities, but on May 13, 2022, the Lorain County Special Olympics will return stronger than ever.

This year is particularly significant as Elyria City School District--the host district--celebrates the event's 40th year.

Thousands of athletes have competed in the games over the event's decades-long history, of course, and this year adds hundreds more to that storied roster.

On May 13, more than 500 athletes from 15 school districts in Lorain County and beyond will come together at Ely Stadium to compete in this exceptional event.

The event kicks off with an opening ceremony at 10 a.m. followed immediately by the track and field games.

Participating districts include: Amherst, Avon, Avon Lake, Firelands, JVS, Keystone, Lorain, Midview, Murray Ridge, Oberlin, Olmsted Falls, Sheffield/Sheffield Lake, and St. Jude.

The event is open to spectators. For more details, check out the event program.
