Communications and Marketing

Welcome to the Elyria City School District!

The Communications and Marketing Department is your place to learn about the many fantastic people, programs and prospects awaiting you and your children in the Elyria Schools.

It's our job to make Elyria Schools accessible to you - our students, parents, staff and community - and to the broader public. We are also the go-to pision for media inquiries.

We share the good work of our district in many ways.

You've heard the expression, "a picture is worth a thousand words." Well, I ask you then, what is a video worth? We believe it's priceless and enduring.

We enjoy visiting our schools, meeting our students and staff and producing video news stories and special features, such as holiday concerts, Board of Education Meetings and other newsworthy moments and events. It's our way of bringing Elyria Schools to life for you.

These programs air daily on the Elyria Schools Education Station, Channel 1022 on the Spectrum cable network. For quick and easy viewing, you'll also find our videos on YouTube at Elyria Schools Pioneer TV.

If there's an educational subject matter or school program you'd like us to cover, please email ideas to

In 2014 we launched a district newspaper called "Pioneer Press." Pioneer Press is an 8-page tabular newspaper delivered through the U.S. Post Office four times per year to all residences in Elyria. If you're new to the area, or if you've missed an issue or two, you can find them archived here.

The Communications and Marketing Department also works closely with The Elyria Chronicle Telegram, The Morning Journal, 930AM WEOL radio, and WOBL/WDLW AM and FM radio to bring timely school news and important educational matters to the public.

If you are reading this column than you are already enjoying the online presence of Elyria Schools at In designing our website, we sought a modern, progressive look that packs a visual punch but most importantly, offers an easy path for our customers and community to find important school information. We appreciate your patience as we continue developing a comprehensive, usable and user-friendly site.

We embrace social media in the Elyria Schools and enjoy a presence on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter, sharing news and announcements, upcoming meetings and events, and touting the great things our students and staff are doing. You can like us on Facebook at ElyriaCitySchools and follow us on Twitter at ElyriaSchools.
