Elyria School Board Vice President Michael Gebhardt was recognized at the April 27 board meeting for 10 years of service.
A representative of the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) presented Mike with a certificate during the meeting.
President Greg Elek commended Mike for his service saying, "The district is better because of it."
Mike has long supported the work of the Elyria Schools even before his service as a board member.
He attended the Elyria Schools as youngster and has been a member of multiple booster and civic organizations that have promoted the district's work for many years, including the Elyria Citizens Committee for Quality Education, the campaign committee that represents Elyria Schools.
Mike also serves on the Elyria Schools Endowment Board. The Endowment Board supports the work of teachers by fundraising and gifting grants for academic projects and programs in Elyria Schools.
