At the Board of Education Meeting held March 15, 2023, a new principal of Elyria High School was announced: Jodie Johnson.
Existing principal, Tim Brown, will retire at the end of this school year.
Jodie is currently an Associate Principal at Elyria High School. She held the roles of Assistant Principal at Elyria High School and Principal at (Franklin) Hamilton Elementary School.
"That experience changed me personally and professionally," Jodie said. "The 'Ham Fam' embraced me as their administrator and trained me in the elementary way. I'm excited to bring back to the high school the tools and knowledge taught to me, and will forever be grateful to the Hamilton Elementary family for the seeds planted in me, my professional growth, and the trust they had in me to be their leader.
"My hope is to empower the high school community and continue the work established by the leaders in the district," Jodie said. "I'm grateful to Ann Schloss and the district leaders for their trust in me throughout the years as a building leader, and honored for the opportunity to serve my alma mater."
Jodie grew up in Elyria, attended Franklin Elementary School and Eastern Heights Junior High, and graduated from Elyria High School in 1995.
She has been an employee of Elyria Schools for 15 years. Before joining the administrative team, Jodie taught Health and Physical Education at Elyria High, and was the head volleyball coach.
"Jodie has been an outstanding leader for Elyria Schools and in the community for years, and we're really excited that she'll be at the helm at Elyria High School," Superintendent Ann Schloss said. "She is well respected by her colleagues, and she has an excellent rapport with students and families. We're excited for everything to come."
